The Anglicare Food Drive is held each year on the 3rd Sunday in June. This year the door-knock is Sunday 15 June. The Food Drive seeks to raise thousands of items of non-perishable food to assist the work Anglicare does to help struggling families in Western Sydney. Last year, with generous community help from households, schools and businesses, the Food Drive collected over 10,000 items - thank you all! |

Anglicare is a large social welfare, education and advocacy agency of the Anglican Church. The Food we collect goes to the Anglicare centre at Rooty Hill, where trained staff and volunteers use it to aid the many families who struggle to make ends meet, and for whom the extra costs of winter would otherwise be the last straw. |

The Food Drive door-knock day is Sunday 15 June 2008. After short services at our church centres, appropriately authorised collectors will doorknock in the residential areas of our district. Nearly all the local supermarkets (Woolies and IGAs) have agreed to have collection boxes in the days leading up to the collection day. Most of the local schools also encourage their students to bring in items to the school collection box in the weeks prior to collection day; check with your child. Each church centre will have a collection box outside, so that items can be dropped off prior to and for a few days after collection day. |
|
You certainly can! We're grateful for your interest. There are at least 3 ways to donate at other times. - You can give at local supermarkets and other businesses in the week before the food drive. Schools are also collecting - send some in with your children or grandchildren.
- There will be collection boxes available outside each of our three church centres in the weeks before and for a few days after the collection.
- If you can't get here, just contact us and ask us to send someone 'round to collect your items. In early June, we'll put an email link on this page to send such a request. Or you can phone the office on 9651-1119.
